PCIe is a blazingly fast connection—up to 64 times faster than traditional SATA connectors used for most SSDs and hard drives. This means NVMe drives deliver mind-blowing transfer speeds and access times. System boot times, application loading, and file transfers are lighting quick with an NVMe SSD. These drives do come at a higher cost, but if transfer speed is your top priority, NVMe is worth every penny.

PCIe Drive

While PCIe is primarily used as a connectivity interface, it can also refer to a type of hard drive with flash memory chips connected directly to the PCIe bus. These drives are essentially like NVMe drives but with the flash memory built-in instead of using a standard SSD form factor. PCIe drives offer even lower latency since they cut out the middleman, so to speak.
